WORLD RECORDS AT ABC TOURNAMENT, 1909

The Lipmans of Chicago shattered ten-pin world records at the 1909 American Bowling Congress international tournament, rolling 985 in their first game, 979 in their second, and 998 in their third, giving them a grand total of 2,962. The Lipmans upset the heavily favored Bonds of Columbus, Ohio, and “were cheered to the echo and everybody in the great hall seemed bound to shake hands with the heroes.”
