WOMEN’S SHOWDOWN IN TEXAS
Date: 1964
The women’s division at the 1964 BPAA All-Star Tournament in Dallas, Texas, featured a highly competitive field with 144 talented participants. The tournament introduced changes to its format, replacing the Petersen point system with the point system employed in the PBA Tour. Additionally, the three-game TV roll-off format was modified, reserved exclusively for the two championship matches. LaVerne Carter emerged as the victor in the women’s division, securing the coveted cash prize of $5,000. This female bowler was one of many to compete against the victorious Carter.
