WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS

The Showboat Hotel, Casino & Lanes had a lot to offer. It first opened in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1954, and a bowling center opened in 1959, proving a huge draw for amateur bowlers and professionals alike. In November 1978, the lanes hosted the inaugural Great and the Greatest Tournament with Brunswick and the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA). The nation’s top male bowlers attended including Buddy Bomar, Dick Weber, Don Carter and Ray Bluth. The bowling stars signed a bowling bag to commemorate the momentous tournament. The next year, the tournament was held in Texas, and women were invited to compete.
