TOURNAMENT IN LOS ANGELES
Date: 1947
Los Angeles hosted the 1947 American Bowling Congress tournament at the National Guard Armory in Exposition Park. A few weeks before the competition, actor Harold Lloyd, ABC secretary Elmer H. Baumgarten and Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce president Clarence H. Beesemeyer were on hand to assist in “whamming the first nail” of the $108,000 alley-building job at the armory.
