THERE’S ONLY ONE VARIPAPA
Date: 1985
Louis Kudlik, a commercial artist from Scotch Plains, New Jersey, painted this portrait of Andy Varipapa. Because he used a 1940s Brunswick publicity photograph as a guide, the oil painting depicts Varipapa’s distinctive bowling pose. The Varipapa family purchased the mural in 1980 and displayed it prominently at Bowl Mart, the family’s pro shop in Mineola, New York, until they sold the business in 1990.
Donated to the IBMHOF by the Varipapa family in 2015
