THERAPEUTIC BOWLING
Date: 1965
The University of Virginia Children’s Rehabilitation Center in Charlottesville, Virginia, specialized in offering therapeutic recreation for disabled children. During the 1960s, the center took a group of children bowling twice a week as part of a comprehensive physical education program. Ronald Adams, a special activities supervisor, was a leader of the program, showing children in the center’s care how to throw the ball down the lane at the local Mountain Bowl.
