THE BOOK ON JAPANESE BOWLING

Bowling followed Americans into Japan in the post-World War II years. The nation’s first sanctioned, non-military alley opened on October 10, 1952, and by 1967 the Japan Professional Bowling Association had formed. There were around 3,600 bowling centers in Japan by 1970. Sports journalist Yoshikazu Ohmura detailed a century of bowling’s history throughout the world and in his native Japan in a commemorative book, a copy of which was gifted to the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame.
