The American Bowling Congress (ABC) was responsible for maintaining bowling pin regulations and ensuring that all pins used were of equal size and shape. When a bowling pin manufacturer was cleared for use in ABC events, they could display that fact directly on the pin, lest there be any confusion or accusations of rigged games.
