PULLING YOUR OWN WEIGHT
Date: 1940s, 1950s
As with most sports, bowling balls had to be standardized in order to compete in tournaments. To ensure this, the device seen here was developed for detecting faulty and worn bowling balls. The ring showed circumference. If the ball was heavier on one side, then the weight would move.
