PINSETTERS IN THE POSTWAR ERA
Date: December 20, 1959
Automatic pinsetters were installed at Omaha’s Civic Auditorium before the 19th Annual BPAA All-Star Tournament. At first, pinsetting was done by hand by youngsters known as “pin boys.” In 1946, AMF introduced the Automatic Pinspotter (Model 82-30) during the American Bowling Congress Tournament. The innovation proved popular in the postwar period as alleys across the country acquired pinsetter technology in the late 1940s and 1950s.
