IRAQ NATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE DISK

The Republic of Iraq sent 27 athletes to participate in the 1988 Summer Games in Seoul, South Korea, the same year bowling debuted at as a demonstration sport at the Olympics. Though not astronomically popular, bowling has had some success in Iraq. In 2014, the Iraqi Bowling Federation had 106 registered bowlers and 8 bowling centers. This disk was likely presented to Gerald Koenig by the Iraq National Olympic Committee for his work lobbying for bowling’s admittance to the Olympic games.
