CASE TO MATCH THE LUGGAGE
Date: early 1900s
A bowling bag that matched one’s luggage was quite a luxury for the traveling bowler. Frank A. Stallman was a Columbus, Ohio, luggage manufacturer and was particularly well known for his dresser trunk, with one commentator calling him “the father of the wardrobe trunk.” It is not clear if Stallman regularly produced bowling ball cases or if this was a custom order. Whatever the case, C. Liefert (whose name is on the case) was one lucky bowler.
