BOWLERS IN CHICAGO
Date: 1924
The 24th annual American Bowling Congress tournament in Chicago in 1924 saw a record-high 2,131 teams competing, with bowlers from all over the Midwest and beyond taking advantage of Chicago’s lively social scene. Several skirmishes in Chicago’s “bootlegging war” took place during the tournament, suggesting that Prohibition had not dried out the Windy City.
