BILLY’S BACK-TO-BACK ATTEMPT
Date: 1970
After clinching the men’s division title at the 1969 BPAA All-Star Tournament, Billy Hardwick aimed for a repeat victory in 1970. Though he fell just short, finishing as runner-up to Bobby Cooper, Hardwick’s distinguished career soared. In 1969, his record-breaking seven wins earned him the PBA Player of the Year award. His last victory came in 1976, before retiring from the PBA Tour to concentrate on the business of bowling, including ownership of Billy Hardwick’s All Star Lanes in Memphis, Tennessee.
