A VALUABLE LESSON
Date: 1958
Sylvia Wene (left) and Marion Turash chatted with an official during the 1958 BPAA All-Star Tournament in Minneapolis. Years earlier, Brooklyn native Turash began bowling with a company league and decided to take professional lessons in New York City. The practice paid off — she rolled a women’s record 841 during a four-game set and ultimately placed third in the tournament. Wene finished in the seventh spot, giving both competitors a spot in the top 10.
