VARIPAPA IN THE WHITE HOUSE
Date: September 25, 1970
President Richard Nixon was arguably one of the most prominent advocates of bowling. Both he and his wife Pat were avid bowlers and actively promoted the sport and related organizations. When assembling the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Nixon asked Andy Varipapa to join. He was the sport’s only representative of the 50-person council, which encouraged physical activity for young Americans.
