The International Youth Games festival was inaugurated in Moscow, Russia, in the summer of 1998. Bowling was an official event at the festival, held in the former Soviet Union not long after the fall of communism, testifying to the unifying nature of sport. This medal is a replica of those that were awarded to bowling champions.
