DUCKPINS IN THE PHILIPPINES
Date: 1936
In the early twentieth century, variations of bowling were played across the globe and bowlers found common ground in the sport. Mrs. Toneita Gibbon was a member of the winning teams who took home these trophies in the 1936 Ladies Bowling Club Afternoon Duck Pin Tournaments held in the Philippines. Duckpin bowling was a regional favorite in the Philippines and Gibbon, who mostly likely hailed from Iowa and had relocated to the Philippines for her husband’s work, had clearly adapted her American tenpin skills successfully.
