BRUNSWICK BOWLING IN BARCELONA
Date: ca. July 15, 1992
Along with a 16-lane bowling alley in the Barcelona Olympic Village, Brunswick also supplied athletes with information about bowling, an international and “ideal Olympic sport.” The packets provided a historical overview of bowling and a guide to the alley. Athletes from 150 countries could try their hands on the lanes. Roger Tessman, then-president of the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs (FIQ), reported that the exhibition was a success. The center hosted approximately 1,152 games a day, and Olympic athletes expressed admiration for the sport because it was “not judgmental…what you knock down with the bowling ball is what you get.”
