NO SHORTS IN DETROIT
Date: 1953
Detroit was rolling in 1953, and so was the Women’s International Bowling Congress, which met there for their annual tournament. The tournament did not conclude until June 8, at which point even Detroit was pretty warm, but tournament organizers made it clear that shorts were unwelcome attire for the female participants. Slacks and culottes were fine.
