HARDWICK ON THE HARD FLOOR
Date: 1970
At the 29th BPAA All-Star Tournament, 128 women and 192 men competed, including Billy Hardwick, pictured here during an interview. Despite a stellar performance, Hardwick clinched the runner-up spot with 12,307 pins, trailing men’s champion Bobby Cooper by approximately 600 pins. The race for second place was tight, with Nelson Burton, Jr. hot on Hardwick’s heels, accumulating a total of 12,291 pins. Expectations were high for Hardwick following his triumphant 1969 season, where he secured seven tournament victories and earned player of the year honors.
