BRAINS, BRAWN & BOWLING
Date: 1959
No matter the competition, Marion Ladewig was at the top of her game. She partnered with Buzz Fazio, captain of the Falstaff Beer team of St. Louis, for the Brains and Brawn television show broadcasted at a real bowling alley. They faced fellow bowling stars Don Carter and Tess Johns. Created in the late 1950s, the TV program challenged participants in a series of physical and mental competitions and often featured celebrity contestants. At the final buzzer, Ladewig and Fazio took home the prize of $13,500 and plenty of bragging rights.
