DRESS FOR BOWLING
Date: ca. 1935
Esther Ryan and the Kornitz Pure Oils dominated the women’s bowling circuit in the 1930s. The Milwaukee-based team was a well-oiled machine, so it only made sense they dressed to their success. The Kornitz squad won three consecutive city titles in 1932, 1933 and 1934, leading up to the big prize in 1939 with a Women’s International Bowling Congress championship. Ryan was no stranger to WIBC glory, winning the tournament all-events title in 1934, her first individual award.
