A SPECIAL SOLE

As anyone who has bowled even recreationally knows, you must have the proper footwear before hitting the lanes. Bowling shoes have special soles, built from a combination of rubber and leather, that allow the bowler to move smoothly across the polished lanes. As seen on the bottom of St. Louis bowler Ed Sweeney’s shoes, the combination of rubber and leather made it possible to slide with the motion of the roll.
