PUT A PIN IN IT
Date: April-June 1964
The Women’s International Bowling Congress (WIBC) held their 1964 convention and tournament in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The event lasted two months, with 5,071 teams from 48 states and Canada lacing up their bowling shoes at Southdale Bowl. It was a record number of participants for WIBC, but that likely came as no surprise. Between 1959 and 1962, membership in the group had doubled to 2 million. With soaring popularity came the need for souvenirs, including brooches, ribbons and programs. Attendees could purchase items like these brooches of bowlers rolling a pearl bowling ball, as a memento from their time in Minneapolis.
