BIRTH OF FIVEPIN

Canadian fivepins resemble the rubber ducks of rubber band duckpin, but are taller and thinner. The sport began around 1909 when Toronto tenpin proprietor Tommy Ryan was fielding constant complaints from customers about the unwieldy size of the required pins and balls. To appease the customers, Ryan whittled five tenpins into a much smaller size, forming the world’s first Canadian fivepin.
